However you found your way to our website, we’re glad to share with you the vision God is bringing together for the province of Alberta and increasingly for our nation!
Church Planting Alberta exists to be a catalyst for church planting throughout this province. With over 3.5 million residents and two of Canada’s largest cities – Alberta is a HUGE mission field!
In response to the prayers of God’s people, the Lord has been calling church planters to western Canada in increasing numbers. Our nation, like the world, is rapidly urbanizing and the great cities of our country desperately need the transforming message of the Gospel. Our movement is built on a solid trust and dependence upon the Spirit of God. We pray for workers, for finances, and for the appropriate locations and strategies, and God is answering those prayers!
There are three values that drive our agenda at Church Planting Alberta
We desire to be a movement that is: Gospel-Centred, Spirit-Led & Mission-Focused.
Everything we do, from assessing, coaching, training and fund-raising is anchored to these values!

Who are we?
CPAB is a growing network of church planters throughout western Canada. We have grown from a denominationally focused church planting department, to a network-focused movement. We are still planting Mennonite Brethren Churches (and are proud to do so!) but we recognize that no single denomination alone will be able to reach the great cities of our day! If we are going to see real kingdom transformation happen in our day, it will be because EVERY gospel-centred church and movement in our province is flourishing.
To that end, we are intentionally seeking partnerships with like-minded followers of Christ who agree on the centrality of God’s Word, on a holistic gospel that is both faithfully proclaimed as well as missionally incarnated, and who are unapologetically Christ-centred in their ministry. If these concepts describe you – then we’d love to get to know you!
We fully endorse the great work that is done in “global missions” by so many great sending organizations – but we also see the incredible spiritual needs right here in western Canada. We like to think of ourselves as the “home missions” arm of the local church!
Our Strategy…
Our strategy involves a total dependence upon Jesus Christ to do what He said He would do! He told us to pray the Lord of the harvest for workers: we do! - and He is answering!
